Supporting Student Success in Northern New Mexico
**The Future of Northern New Mexico: Empowering Students through Higher Education**
The Los Alamos National Laboratory Foundation (LANL Foundation) and the Los Alamos Employees’ Scholarship Fund (LAESF) are proud to recognize the achievements of outstanding students in Northern New Mexico as they pursue higher education. This year, 138 students earning bachelor’s degrees have been awarded 147 scholarships, totaling a record-breaking $1,030,000. **A Legacy of Support**
Since 1999, the LANL Foundation has awarded more than 2,600 scholarships, surpassing $13 million in total funding. These scholarships are made possible through the generosity of the workforce of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), Triad National Security, and community members who have entrusted the LAESF Advisory Committee and the LANL Foundation to administer their named and endowed scholarship funds. **Expanding Scholarship Opportunities**
This year, the Foundation received nearly $900,000 in new scholarship funding thanks to the establishment of five new funds, including:
• Dr. Charles McMillan Tribute
• Española Education Association, Inc. • National Security Workforce
• Veterans Scholarship
• A new fund created by an anonymous donor
Among this year’s recipients are three exceptional students who have been awarded the prestigious $20,000 Gold Scholarship:
**Meet the Recipients**
• Amelia Martinez, Taos Academy
• Hanbi Park, Santa Fe High School
• Uxue Sansinea, Los Alamos High School
“_We are deeply grateful for the support of our donors and partners who make this scholarship program possible_,” said LANL Foundation Scholarship Program Director Mike Ammerman. “_With each new fund and every dollar donated, we are able to deepen our impact and lift up more students from northern New Mexico who seek to improve their lives through higher education_.”
Phil Stauffer, LAESF Chair, added, “_I thank the volunteers who devoted countless hours to ensuring a thorough and fair review of the nearly 400 applications that the review committee ranked this year. The competition for scholarships was fierce, with extremely qualified applicants across all seven counties of Northern New Mexico. The stories that the students relate in their applications are inspirational and give confidence that the next generation is ready to step into the increasingly complex workforce of tomorrow_.”
**Resources for Student Success**
In addition to financial support, LANL Scholars gain access to resources designed to help them succeed in college and beyond. These include:
**Scholarship Program Resources**
| Resource | Description |
| — | — |
| On-campus support programs | First-year and transfer students at the University of New Mexico and New Mexico State University |

| Career Pathways Scholarship | Supporting students pursuing associate degrees, certificates, and trade credentials |
The Foundation also offers a Summer Bridge Program, which provides comprehensive academic and career support to incoming freshmen at New Mexico State University. **Conclusion**
